Paul's ride in Greg Arnette's Boeing 600H, October 29, 2000

Above is Greg Arnette, founder of Arnette, Inc. I first met Greg some 10 years ago, flying R.C. airplanes & helicopters in Aliso Viejo. We had lost touch over the years. On October 29, 2000, Greg came to the JMRC flying field with a club member. After a reunion and some enjoyable flying of model aircraft, Greg said that he was going flying in the afternoon, and invited me for a ride!
The Boeing 600H has about 120 hours on it, and Greg will be refitting some equipment on the ship for his part time job with the Search & Rescue team in Florida. The Heli is jet powered, and uses NOTAR (no tail rotor) technology. It is extremely quiet and very, very smooth in the air. This is the same model of helicopter that the Orange County Sheriff's office use for their surveillance. Top speed is 140 knots!
Greg took the helicopter out over the ocean, along the coast, and allowed me to fly her for about 20 minutes! It was incredible, to say the least. On the way back to the airport, Greg flew at 100 knots, and less than 100 feet above the water. What a ride!
