We took a drive up highway 550 through Cuba, NM, and hiked into the San Pedro Wilderness Park on August 20th, 2011

Some nature lovers were on horseback near the lake. A much lazier way to see the scenery, huh!

This shot is the south end of San Griegos Reservoir

As you can see... there was a light rain coming down while we were at the lake. In fact... there was a light rain falling during most of our hike.

Walking around to the north end of the lake.

Ya gotta take your dog hiking with ya.... it's a requirement! :)

Looking south across the lake

The meadow areas are beautiful!

My two gals on the trail :) The trail is easy, with minimal elevation gains and not many rocky areas.

Along Forest Road 70, leading to the Trail head

These remaining photos were taken on the way home, along Highway 550, between Cuba and Jemez. It's a beautiful drive!

The Red rocks add nice 'pop' of color to the landscape!

Here's Luna checking out the scenery :)

An example of what you see driving along this stretch of road... gorgeous!

The red and white sandstone is vibrant!

Who says the desert is ugly?

Kinda reminds me of Arizona or southern Utah

Check out the layering in the rocks!

A whole different group of colors here!
